Terence Crawford’s pitch landed with Floyd Mayweather’s comeback already in motion. In a post reported by Boxing News Online on 4 November, the retired three-division undisputed champion put the offer bluntly.

“F**k it Floyd me and you would crash everything. GOAT vs GOAT F**k it.”

The same thread also reopened a feud with WBC welterweight champion Ryan Garcia, with Crawford teasing a comeback of his own (“Maybe one more”) and dangling a middleweight meeting. He then conceded Garcia had other business lined up, nodding to the American’s planned fight with Mayweather.

Bangkok exhibition set for 19 December

Mayweather, who retired in 2017 with a 50-0 record, has not boxed professionally in nine years. On 1 November he confirmed his next ring return on social media: an exhibition against Australian Matt Floyd in Bangkok on 19 December, billed as the “Battle of the Floyds”. Floyd, 37, has fought seventeen times as a professional since 2021 for a 15-2 record.

“This is a lil tune-up before me and Ryan Garcia lock up,” Mayweather wrote.

That framing points to a professional title fight with Garcia in February 2027, a bout Garcia himself has publicly pencilled in at his WBC welterweight limit of 147lb.

De La Hoya doubts the Garcia fight will happen

The Garcia meeting is anything but a done deal. Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has publicly predicted that Garcia will not share a ring with Mayweather in February, saying he does not think it will happen and pointing instead to a DAZN fight with WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez on the same date.

That leaves a crowded landscape around Mayweather’s professional return, with a Crawford meeting nowhere in any official plan. Crawford himself retired in December 2025 after dethroning Canelo Alvarez at super-middleweight, and his latest post is the clearest public signal yet that his gloves may not stay on the shelf.

The Bangkok exhibition still lacks a published broadcaster, round count or weight class, with those details expected ahead of the 19 December date.
