Spanish journalist: Vinícius Júnior. has privately apologised to Xabi Alonso

Following Real Madrid’s victory in El Clásico, Vinícius Júnior found himself under fire after reacting angrily to being substituted. The Brazilian forward left the pitch visibly frustrated and headed straight for the dressing room without acknowledging head coach Xabi Alonso a gesture that drew criticism from both Spanish media and fans.

Shortly after the match, Vinícius issued a public apology on social media, asking for forgiveness from his teammates, the club and president Florentino Pérez for his behaviour during the game. However, Xabi Alonso was not mentioned in that statement.

Met privately with Xabi Alonso to apologise

According to Spanish journalist José Luis Sánchez, who frequently appears on the popular TV show El Chiringuito de Jugones and is known for his close ties to Real Madrid, Vinícius Júnior has also apologised privately to Xabi Alonso.

Sánchez reported that Vinícius first met with his teammates and the coaching staff at Real Madrid’s training ground in Valdebebas, where he apologised for his reaction to being substituted in El Clásico. He then reportedly met privately with Xabi Alonso for a more personal conversation, during which he again expressed his regret.

The journalist added that Alonso and his staff took the gesture positively, viewing it as an important step towards moving on from the incident.

No official comment from Real Madrid

Real Madrid have not issued an official comment on the matter, and the claims about the private meeting come solely from El Chiringuito. Nevertheless, the report is being interpreted as a sign that Vinícius is eager to put the controversy behind him and rebuild his relationship with the coaching staff.
