Man utd move quickly on interim solution
Manchester United are moving swiftly behind the scenes following another abrupt managerial change, with senior figures focused on restoring order to a season that has drifted off course.
According to TEAMtalk, the club is preparing to appoint an interim head coach within days, as executives push for clarity while a broader managerial search continues in the background.
Reset at Old Trafford
Ruben Amorim was dismissed earlier this week after a challenging 14 month spell in charge, triggering an immediate review of Manchester United’s short term direction.
According to TEAMtalk, the club’s leadership, headed by Chief Executive Omar Berrada and Football Director Jason Wilcox, has already held initial discussions with potential interim candidates, with further meetings expected shortly.

The report states that United want an experienced figure who can guide the squad through the remainder of the campaign without disrupting long term planning.
Familiar names in focus
TEAMtalk reports that former Manchester United players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are the two leading candidates being considered for the temporary role.
Solskjaer previously stepped in as caretaker manager in 2018 before being appointed permanently and remains a popular figure among supporters. According to TEAMtalk, the Norwegian is open to a return after leaving Besiktas in August 2025.
Carrick, who worked as Solskjaer’s assistant, also has experience in the role, having overseen a short unbeaten interim spell in 2021. Sources cited by TEAMtalk suggest the club is leaning towards appointing one individual rather than pursuing a joint arrangement.

Interim bridge to summer plans
Darren Fletcher is expected to remain in charge for the upcoming FA Cup tie against Brighton after leading the side against Burnley. However, according to TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen to install a more senior interim coach shortly after.
The approach reflects a broader strategy to delay a permanent managerial appointment until the summer. TEAMtalk has previously reported that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is admired internally, with his contract situation viewed as favourable.
The report also notes that Marseille head coach Roberto De Zerbi would be interested in the role, although Manchester United have not made a formal move.
Pressure builds for short term stability
Manchester United currently sit seventh in the Premier League, with recent draws increasing the urgency for steadier performances and clearer leadership.
