Kane reveals early talks with Kompany as Bayern’s ruthless style takes shape

Bayern Munich’s latest Bundesliga performance has reinforced a growing sense that this season’s title race may be decided far earlier than usual. The league leaders’ emphatic win away at RB Leipzig underlined both their numerical dominance and the mentality shaping their campaign under new head coach Vincent Kompany.

According to BILD, Bayern turned a brief setback into another statement victory, overwhelming Leipzig after falling behind early and leaving little doubt about the balance of power in the league.

From resistance to collapse in Leipzig

Leipzig initially gave Bayern reason to pause, taking a 1–0 lead and controlling large parts of the first half. Any hopes of a sustained challenge faded after the break. Bayern struck five times, dismantling a Leipzig side that included Germany international David Raum and exposing the hosts’ defensive fragility.

The result kept Bayern unbeaten after 18 league matches, with just two draws to their name. Their lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund has now stretched to 11 points, a margin that already feels decisive at this stage of the season.

The numbers further underline the trend. Bayern have scored 71 league goals so far, an average of nearly four per game, with Harry Kane central to their attacking output.

Planning for dominance

Speaking after the match, Kane offered insight into how Bayern’s uncompromising style was established long before the current run of results. In comments reported by BILD, the striker recalled an early conversation with Kompany shortly after the coach’s appointment.

“I remember my first phone call with the coach when he took the Bayern job. Even then he told me we would be ruthless with every opponent,” Kane said.

Rather than focusing on individual matches, Kane described a broader philosophy that has shaped daily work at the club.

A mentality that leaves no room for easing off

Kane explained that Kompany has consistently demanded attacking intent regardless of the scoreline. “He said from the first moment: if we’re one goal up, we go for the second. If we’re three up, we go for the fourth. That’s our mindset,” he said.

According to the England captain, this attitude is reinforced in training, where competition for places remains intense and standards are kept high. The effect, he suggested, is visible on matchdays, as Bayern continue to push forward even when games appear settled.

Looking ahead to the decisive months

Despite Bayern’s commanding position, Kane dismissed the idea that an early championship could blunt the team’s edge later in the season. He indicated that the current approach would remain unchanged, even if the title were secured well before May.

“I wouldn’t complain if we win the league in March or April,” Kane said. “With our current mindset, it wouldn’t matter. We just keep playing the way we play.”
