Manchester City continued their flawless start to the Premier League season, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Coventry, a match that saw expensive new midfield recruits Enzo Fernandez and Iliman Ndiaye make their highly anticipated debuts. The win, sealed by Erling Haaland’s third goal in as many games, underscored City’s ongoing midfield transformation under manager Enzo Maresca.

The fixture on 5 September 2026 provided the first glimpse of City’s significant summer investment in action, with Fernandez arriving from Chelsea for £125 million and Ndiaye joining for £60 million. Fernandez makes immediate impression
