Mason Mount on United, Fulham, Villa choices
Manchester United are already facing early transfer speculation as several Premier League clubs monitor the situation of Mason Mount. However, the club’s internal position appears firm as the summer window approaches.
According to Football Insider, quoted by Transfer News Live, Manchester United are not planning to sell the England international despite interest from Aston Villa and Fulham.
Mount joined Manchester United from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth more than £55 million and remains part of the club’s longer term plans even after an injury disrupted first spell at Old Trafford.

The report states that Aston Villa and Fulham have both shown interest in the midfielder, but Old Trafford officials are not currently considering offers.
Keeping Mount would allow Manchester United to maintain valuable depth in midfield as the club prepares its squad for the upcoming season.
European qualification could influence squad planning
Manchester United’s possible return to European competition is believed to be one of the reasons behind the club’s decision to keep the midfielder.
According to Football Insider, qualification for Europe, particularly the Champions League, would significantly increase the number of matches the squad must handle.

A heavier schedule across domestic competitions and Europe would place greater physical demands on the squad, meaning United may prefer to keep experienced options rather than allowing players to leave.
Mount still has a point to prove at Old Trafford
Mount’s first period at Manchester United has been heavily affected by injuries, which limited his ability to secure a consistent place in the team.
However, there have also been flashes of what he can offer. According to the Manchester United focused outlet Stretty News and journalist Dale O’Donnell, Mount produced one of his most memorable moments for the club when he came off the bench and scored twice in a 4,1 victory over Athletic Club that helped send United to the 2025 Europa League final.
Speaking to TNT Sports after that match, Mount admitted the moment had been a long time coming.

“It was too long waiting for a night like that,” Mount said. “I carried on going, working hard in training every day and tried to stay positive and when I had an opportunity to try to make an impact.”
United’s decision to keep him could also be linked to the size of the investment made when he arrived from Chelsea. Selling him now would mean losing a versatile England international who can play several midfield roles while also counting as a homegrown player.
There is still some risk attached to the decision. If injuries continue to limit his playing time, Mount could end up becoming a high wage squad player rather than a regular starter.
However, if he manages to stay fit and rediscover his best form, Manchester United could benefit from keeping a proven England international without needing to re enter the transfer market for a replacement.
