The car carrying Andre Onana home from Papara Park was struck from behind at high speed, pushing it into the vehicle ahead and triggering a pile-up on the coast road near Trabzon. The Cameroon international’s family were travelling with him when the crash happened.
Emergency services took the 30-year-old to a local hospital for precautionary checks, before he was discharged.
‘No problems with him’
Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan addressed the panic directly once his goalkeeper had been assessed.
“Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Dogan said in a statement carried by local media.

Club officials attended the crash site to check on the goalkeeper and his family before he was taken for medical assessment, according to Africa Top Sports.
A clean sheet, then chaos
The crash came only hours after Onana had helped Trabzonspor to a 2-0 Conference League win over Heart of Midlothian at Papara Park. A Mohamed Salah penalty in the 32nd minute and a Franculino Dju strike just before the hour mark carried the Turkish side to a second straight league-phase victory, with Trabzonspor’s Cabral sent off for a second yellow in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Yomra sits just east of Trabzon on the Black Sea coast, on the route Onana would have taken from Papara Park. Turkish reports said he had set off home with his family when the car behind him lost control.
On loan from Old Trafford
Onana is spending the campaign on loan at Trabzonspor from Manchester United, where he remains under contract until 2028. The move was intended to let the former Internazionale and Ajax goalkeeper rebuild his standing after an uneven spell at Old Trafford, and the early signs have been encouraging: four clean sheets in his previous five appearances, per Africa Top Sports, the Hearts shut-out included.
