Barcelona confirmed on Friday that Dani Olmo tore his left adductor during Thursday’s 4-2 Champions League defeat at PSG. The injury happened in the 27th minute, after a collision with Vitinha, and the club put the recovery period at around a month. That rules the Spain midfielder out of the Clasico, the Champions League group game at Aston Villa, and the La Liga trip to Atletico Madrid.
Olmo is the latest in a stack of Barcelona absences. Center-back Andreas Christensen has been out with a left thigh injury since the Sevilla match in mid-September. Defender Eric Garcia is three to four weeks into a rectus femoris tear in his right thigh, per the club’s own medical bulletin. Right-back Jules Kounde picked up a left ankle sprain against Real Betis and is considered highly unlikely to feature, with the coaching staff only hoping to have him on the bench.
Mourinho’s own treatment room
Real Madrid are not travelling to Catalonia in full health either. Vinicius Junior starts a four-match ban on Sunday after the Spanish federation’s disciplinary committee ruled on October 14 that his red card for pulling a Villarreal player’s hair, together with his protests at the officials afterwards, were worth four games. He is not due back until the November 21 trip to Celta Vigo.
Ferland Mendy is still working through a long-term thigh issue, Rodrygo is managing a knee problem that is not expected to clear until the start of 2027, and Raul Asencio is roughly three months into recovery from surgery on a stress fracture in his leg. Jose Mourinho, in his first Clasico since returning to the club this summer, will at least have Thibaut Courtois in goal and Kylian Mbappe up front.

Yamal carries the Camp Nou attack
Mbappe had sat out the Villarreal match after hyperextending his left knee on France duty in late September, but Real Madrid expect him on the pitch on Sunday. For Barcelona, Lamine Yamal, who scored one of the goals in Paris, becomes the central attacking threat in Olmo’s absence.
Sunday’s match at Spotify Camp Nou is matchday 10 of La Liga and the first league meeting of the 2026/27 season between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
