Bad news for Manchester United star: Six-month driving ban
Things are going reasonably well for Manchester United in the Premier League at the moment. However, for the club’s 20-year-old defender Leny Yoro, the situation looks quite different off the pitch.
The young Frenchman has been handed a six-month driving ban following a significant speeding offence in August.
According to the BBC, Yoro was clocked at 115 kilometres per hour in the Withington area of Manchester, where the speed limit is 48 km/h.
That is more than double the permitted speed.

The incident took place while Yoro was driving his Porsche Cayenne GTS.
Admits offence and receives punishment
According to court documents, Leny Yoro pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to a six-month driving disqualification and fined £666, equivalent to approximately 5,700 Danish kroner.
In addition, he was ordered to pay £120 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £266. In total, the financial consequences amount to just under 9,000 kroner.
The amount is manageable for a Premier League player. The driving ban, on the other hand, will be a more noticeable consequence in everyday life.

Explanation in court
During the hearing, Yoro’s lawyers apologised on his behalf. They explained that the footballer was on his way to drive a friend to the train station when he was caught by a speed camera.
The defence also highlighted that the speeding offence took place on a wide road with limited risk of contact with vulnerable road users such as pedestrians. However, the court found that the speed itself was so excessive that it warranted an immediate disqualification.
A reminder of responsibility
Leny Yoro is regarded as one of Manchester United’s major defensive prospects. The case therefore serves as a reminder that life as a professional footballer also entails responsibility off the pitch.
