Barcelona files another UEFA complaint after Atlético exit
Barcelona turns to UEFA again
According to Gill Clark’s report for Barça Blaugranes, Barcelona has submitted another complaint to UEFA after its Champions League quarterfinal exit against Atlético Madrid, arguing that several decisions across the two matches were not in line with the laws of the game.
The club said the issue was not limited to one isolated moment. In its view, the accumulation of those calls had a direct effect on how the quarterfinal unfolded and on the final outcome, leaving Barcelona with both sporting and financial damage. Barcelona is also renewing its criticism of how VAR handled key incidents during the tie.
Club says both matches were affected
Barcelona’s position is that the quarterfinal has to be judged as a whole, not as two separate nights. The club believes the pattern of decisions across both legs shaped the contest in a meaningful way, and that the consequences went beyond frustration in the moment.
That argument has become central to the way Barcelona is presenting the case. Rather than focusing on only one flashpoint, the club is trying to show UEFA that several rulings, taken together, altered the balance of the tie and hurt its chances of staying in the competition.

Denied penalty in first leg rejected by UEFA
According to ESPN’s earlier report by Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens, Barcelona had already filed a formal complaint after the first leg because the club believed it had been denied a penalty. UEFA rejected that complaint, but Barcelona has now returned with a broader argument covering the entire quarterfinal.
That earlier rejection helps explain why the new complaint carries a sharper tone. From Barcelona’s point of view, this is not simply a reaction to being knocked out. It is a second attempt to force UEFA to address a tie the club believes was influenced by refereeing decisions from start to finish.
