Mbappé and Camavinga speak after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit
Camavinga owns his mistake
According to Fabrizio Romano’s post on X, Camavinga did not try to hide from the moment. He accepted responsibility, apologised to his teammates and the Madridistas, and thanked supporters for standing by him. The message landed immediately because it came after Real Madrid’s 4-3 defeat in Munich, which sealed a 6-4 aggregate loss to Bayern and ended their Champions League run.
Eventhough many fans accept his apology, some still questions if he is the right man for the job on the team. According to Capology’s Eduardo Camavinga profile, his current deal runs until 30 June 2029, with an estimated gross salary of €12.5 million for the 2025/26 season, about €240,385 per week, and roughly €50 million still left on the contract. Those figures are only part of the picture, but they do underline how strongly Real Madrid have committed to him. Whether it's too much, or fair price, should be up to Real Madrid themselves.
According to Real Madrid’s official player page, he has made 37 appearances this season, played 1,968 minutes and recovered 104 balls. By January, he had already reached 200 appearances for the club and won 11 trophies in five seasons. That is the context around his statement. One bad night can change the mood, but it does not erase how much trust Madrid have put in him since he arrived in 2021.
Mbappé sends a clear message
According to Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post on Mbappé’s message, the forward told supporters that Madrid fought until the end, admitted the elimination was painful, and said the squad has to look at itself properly to avoid another night like this. He also made the promise fans will remember most, saying the team will start winning again very soon. Mbappé scored in Munich, but it was not enough to keep Madrid alive in the tie.

How Real Madrid will judge the response
Camavinga’s statement and Mbappé’s statement came from different places, but they point in the same direction. One was an apology after a costly moment. The other was a public reminder of the standard at the club. At Real Madrid, those words are never the end of the story. They are only the beginning of the reaction.
Madrid have invested heavily in Camavinga, and the club’s own numbers still describe a player trusted to carry serious minutes and do difficult work across midfield. Mbappé, meanwhile, has made it plain that the dressing room knows this was not acceptable. Supporters will not judge either message on tone alone. They will judge them on what Real Madrid look like in the matches that follow.
