Eberl spoke to German broadcaster Sky ahead of Bayern’s league trip to Mainz on Saturday, days after Mohya had been called into Jürgen Klopp’s senior Germany squad for the first time.

“FC Bayern has basically every young German talent on its radar. We are taking a look at the boy,” Eberl told Sky, as quoted by FCBinside.

He was clear, though, that nothing concrete has happened behind the scenes. Neither Mohya, his agency nor Borussia Mönchengladbach had been approached, Eberl said.

A maiden Germany call-up at 17

Klopp named the attacking midfielder in a trimmed-down 24-player squad for the November international window, as confirmed by Bundesliga.com. Mohya is the only uncapped name in the group.

Born on 31 December 2008, he arrives in the senior camp on the back of a goal and an assist in Gladbach’s recent win over VfB Stuttgart. The run has made him the fourth-youngest player in Bundesliga history to score in consecutive top-flight matches.

Germany face Serbia in Belgrade on Friday, 13 November, before hosting the Netherlands in Berlin on Monday, 16 November.

Contract until 2028, several clubs circling

The teenager is under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until the summer of 2028, and Gladbach would like to extend that deal early to strengthen their position against potential suitors, according to FCBinside. Reports have floated a possible transfer fee in the region of €35 million, though that figure has not been confirmed as Gladbach’s asking price.

Bayern are far from alone in watching him. The same reporting places Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool among the clubs linked with the attacking midfielder.

Mohya has climbed Gladbach’s pyramid at an unusual pace. He is the youngest player ever to represent the club’s senior side, having made his DFB-Pokal debut against Karlsruhe in October 2025, and he then became the third-youngest goalscorer in Bundesliga history when he scored against Bayern themselves on Matchday 25 of the 2025/26 season.

Former Germany international Dietmar Hamann has publicly advised Mohya against a quick move to Munich, telling him via FCBinside that regular playing time matters more at this stage of his career.
