Chelsea dressing room truth: How Liam Rosenior’s handling of key players led to his exit

Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior followed not just a collapse in results, but mounting concerns within the dressing room about his management.

While the club confirmed his departure after a run of five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring, reports suggest problems behind the scenes had been building for weeks.

According to GIVEMESPORT, Rosenior made a strong initial impression after arriving from Strasbourg to replace Enzo Maresca. Players responded positively to his approachable style and his intention to create a more relaxed atmosphere around the squad.

However, that early optimism faded as performances declined. Chelsea’s losing streak described as their worst run since 1912 intensified scrutiny on both results and decision-making.

Selection choices became a particular source of frustration. GIVEMESPORT reported that the regular rotation between goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen disrupted consistency, while some players were unhappy with the limited opportunities given to younger options such as Josh Acheampong.

The report also pointed to a shift in the mood among senior players. Members of Chelsea’s leadership group were said to have grown increasingly reserved during team meetings, an indication that confidence in the manager’s approach was beginning to erode.

Tensions appeared to escalate further after a 3-0 defeat to Brighton, when Rosenior reportedly criticised several members of the squad. The incident added to a growing sense of disconnect between the coaching staff and players.

On the pitch, the consequences have been significant. Chelsea are now at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification, sitting seven points adrift of the final spot, according to GIVEMESPORT.

Rosenior’s position was also shaped by the circumstances of his arrival. Maresca’s exit earlier in the year followed disagreements over the club’s long-term direction, and midfielder Enzo Fernandez later questioned how that situation had been handled, the outlet reported. That backdrop left Rosenior facing immediate pressure to assert authority within a squad of established personalities.

Despite the managerial change, Chelsea still have an opportunity to salvage their season. An FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley offers a chance to reach a final and restore some momentum.

The club has not publicly responded to the reported dressing room concerns.
