Rumours of a lavish wedding between football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and long-time partner Georgina Rodriguez, supposedly set for August 1st, 2026, have been definitively debunked. Despite widespread online speculation and a ‘leaked’ invitation, the couple’s representatives and the venue itself confirmed that no such event is scheduled for this weekend.
The couple, who have been together for nine years and share children, sparked a frenzy among fans after a Portuguese television program, V+ Fama, showcased what it claimed was their wedding invitation. This alleged invite circulated widely online, pointing to August 1st as the date for the nuptials at the picturesque Quinta da Regaleira.
The circulating speculation
The circulating invitations, however, quickly raised eyebrows. Different versions reportedly showed conflicting times for the ceremony, with some indicating 2 PM and others 5 PM. Further investigation into the supposed venue, Quinta da Regaleira, revealed that it was scheduled to be open to the public on August 1st and even had an evening performance by a singer booked, making a private wedding highly improbable.
Ultimately, Spanish outlet Hola! published an article on July 29, 2026, confirming that the wedding is not taking place this weekend. A family statement also clearly denied the August 1st date. While the immediate rumours have been put to rest, the wedding is still expected to happen at a later, undisclosed date.

Ronaldo’s past promises and proposal
The anticipation around Ronaldo and Rodriguez’s marriage is not new. The 41-year-old Portuguese footballer, currently playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, had previously expressed his intention to marry Georgina after the World Cup.
Speaking to Piers Morgan, Ronaldo articulated his commitment: “I hope to arrive at my wedding with the champion’s trophy. I’m going to marry her because I believe it’s the right time. Not just because she’s the mother of my children — but because she’s the person I love most.”
Ronaldo proposed to Georgina last year in a memorable moment that included his children. He recounted the spontaneous nature of the proposal:
“It was like 1 am. My daughters were in bed sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say: ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to mum and you’re going to ask her to get married’. I said: ‘Wow, this is the right moment to say yes’. It was the time. I knew that I was going to do it one day, but I hadn’t planned to do it then.”
