Bruun praises Spain’s complete performance
Danish football expert and TV 2 analyst Morten Bruun was full of praise for Spain after their World Cup triumph.
Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 after extra time, with Ferran Torres scoring the decisive goal.
Bruun argued that the victory confirmed Spain’s status as the strongest and most balanced team in the tournament.
“Spain is clearly this World Cup’s most complete team. And they have not exactly taken the easy route,” he said.

Spain control the final
Spain dominated possession and created the better chances throughout the match.
Argentina struggled to build attacks and spent long periods defending close to their own penalty area.
The score remained level until the 106th minute, when Torres finally broke the deadlock.

Bruun was far less impressed by Argentina’s performance.

The Danish expert said the defending champions had failed to make any real impact for most of the final.
“Argentina never really got into the game. They played almost no role for 105 minutes and hardly attacked. They didn’t succeed with anything at all. The final must hurt,” he said.
Argentina fail to find their rhythm
Argentina had enjoyed a strong tournament before the final, but they were unable to reproduce that form against Spain.
Their attacking players were largely isolated, while the midfield struggled to gain control.

Even when Argentina pushed forward late in the match, Spain remained calm and organised.
Torres provides the decisive moment
Ferran Torres became Spain’s match-winner with his extra-time goal.
The Barcelona forward reacted quickly inside the penalty area and converted the chance that secured the trophy.
His finish ended Argentina’s resistance and gave Spain their second men’s World Cup title.

De la Fuente completes remarkable rise
Spain’s victory also represented a major achievement for head coach Luis de la Fuente.
His early period in charge included a 2–0 defeat by Scotland in European Championship qualifying in March 2023.
Since then, he has built a side capable of controlling matches while also attacking with greater speed and purpose.
Barcelona influence runs through the team
Several Barcelona players played important roles during Spain’s successful campaign.
