Satterley, who wrestled as PAC, had a documented history of lung issues and blood clots stretching back to 2023, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. The 40-year-old was found unresponsive in a rental car outside a restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois, on September 27, less than 24 hours after wrestling Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at All Out in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as bronchial asthma, with the manner natural, and the determination was reported on October 16.
He was pronounced dead at 4:08pm local time.
A heart risk from old blood clots
Fatal asthma attacks are uncommon, critical care physician Alex Patel told Meltzer in remarks relayed by Khel Now, but the time to intervene can disappear quickly once an attack escalates.

Patel said that pre-existing blood clots can strain the right side of the heart and raise the risk during a severe attack.
“If you do have underlying blood clots, they can affect the right side of your heart. There is some link between severe asthma attacks, and death, occurring more in people who have underlying heart issues so certainly if the right side of his heart was affected, it could lead them at higher risk for asthmatic complications.”
Patel added that without a heart or echocardiogram report, there is no way to tell whether a pulmonary embolism had altered Satterley’s heart function in the lead-up to the attack.
What Meltzer heard the week of the death
Meltzer said on the October 19 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the lung problems were not new, and that a friend had told him about the blood clots the week PAC died.

“He did have lung issues,” Meltzer said. “This is not something that came out of nowhere that nobody knew.”
Meltzer also addressed the question of whether an inhaler could have helped, saying the attack may have come on too fast for one to be of use.
PAC’s final match was for the AEW National Championship on September 26 at Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office issued its ruling on October 16, 2026.
