Gianluigi Donnarumma’s camp has moved to shut down any suggestion that the Premier League’s guilty verdict against Manchester City is rattling the player.
Enzo Raiola, who now runs the agency he inherited from his late uncle Mino, told Radio Napoli Centrale that the club has reached out directly to the Italy captain, as published by Football Italia.
“Will the Manchester City chaos change anything? No, nothing will change for us or for Gigio. News comes out periodically. The club has spoken with Gigio and everyone is calm.”
“Now there are important games against Liverpool and PSG, then sporting justice will take its course. But Gigio has had reassurances from Manchester City.”

The verdict Donnarumma walked into
The Premier League confirmed the ruling on Tuesday 29 September, when an independent commission found Manchester City guilty of all charges relating to serious breaches of the league’s financial rules across a nine-season period, together with the majority of the separate failure-to-cooperate charges. The club called the verdict one it was “disappointed and surprised” by, said it was “innocent of the accusations made by the Premier League” and promised to be “relentless” in pursuing an appeal. Any sanction will be set at a separate hearing.
Donnarumma arrived at the Etihad just over a year before any of this landed. He signed from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day in September 2025 for a reported £26m, with Sky Sports reporting the deal as Ederson moved to Fenerbahce. His first season in Manchester has coincided with Pep Guardiola’s exit and the arrival of Enzo Maresca as his successor.
‘They pointed out his mistakes for a few more likes’
Raiola spent much of the rest of the interview defending the goalkeeper against years of what he described as disproportionate criticism.
“For years I’ve said that Donnarumma would be the best. In some games and incidents, people loaded Gianluigi with doubts and criticism.”
“They pointed out his mistakes for a few more likes.”
The agent also addressed Donnarumma’s bond with Erling Haaland, another client of the Raiola agency.
“They are two lads with the same character. Haaland was managed by Mino Raiola, and before that Gigio also had a special relationship with Mino. They’re two good lads, two warriors with hearts of gold.”
PSG return looms after Anfield trip
The timing of the agent’s intervention is not accidental. Manchester City travel to Anfield on Sunday 11 October for a 4:30pm local time kick-off against Liverpool, confirmed in Sky Sports’ broadcast schedule. Three days later Donnarumma faces his former club: PSG visit the Etihad on Wednesday 14 October at 8pm local time in the Champions League league phase.
