Since 2013, Formula One drivers have operated under a strict penalty points system introduced by the FIA to enforce discipline on track. Each infraction — whether it's causing a collision, ignoring flags, or driving dangerously — adds points to a driver’s license. Reach 12 within a 12-month span, and you’re handed an automatic one-race ban.

Most drivers manage to avoid accumulating too many, but some are starting to edge dangerously close to the threshold. As of June 6, 2025, twelve drivers have active penalty points — and one of them is just a single point away from suspension. Here’s a full breakdown, starting from the lowest and ending with the most penalized driver on the grid.

12. George Russell – 1 penalty point

George Russell has only a single penalty point on his super license, making him the least penalized among the 12 drivers currently under scrutiny. The Mercedes man has generally kept his nose clean throughout the season. However, even one point can grow into a risk if mistakes continue to pile up. For now, though, Russell isn’t in any immediate danger of suspension.

11. Fernando Alonso – 2 penalty points

The veteran Spaniard remains a fierce competitor, but even Fernando Alonso hasn’t been immune to on-track penalties. With two points on his license, Alonso must tread carefully in the upcoming races.
