Barcelona have no intention of parting with Fermín López in January, regardless of what offers arrive. According to a Fabrizio Romano update carried by football365, the Spain international is “absolutely untouchable for Barcelona”, with Hansi Flick’s side treating him as central to both the present and the medium term.
Romano struck the same note in a parallel update published by Get Football News Spain, writing that Fermín “won’t leave Barcelona anytime soon as very happy at the club and seen as key player by everyone at the club.”
Those two lines close a story that has run through October. Paris Saint-Germain are preparing an offer of around €80m (£68m), while Chelsea had been weighing a “sizeable” bid of their own after a summer approach was rebuffed. Manchester United have also made contact.
A hard no, not a soft one
Barcelona’s valuation sits comfortably above €100m, according to onefootball, and sporting director Deco considers Fermín essential to Flick’s project. The midfielder signed a new deal earlier this year that runs to June 2031.

He has not been quiet about his side of it either.
“I will stay here forever,” he told reporters in March, a quote Sports Mole revisited this week as the January noise built.
His start to the 2026/27 campaign has done nothing to loosen that position: four La Liga goals and two assists in five starts across seven appearances, plus a Champions League strike.
Timing bites at Old Trafford
The confirmation lands at an uncomfortable moment for Manchester United. Michael Carrick’s side were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea on Saturday, extending a winless run to nine matches, the club’s longest since 1988. Carrick survived to prepare for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Roma, but each result is testing his position further.

“I’m just looking forward to getting the boys ready for midweek,” the United manager told reporters after the defeat at Stamford Bridge.
Fermín had been floated inside the Old Trafford recruitment room as a long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes, per the same football365 update. With Barcelona’s position now on the record, that line of enquiry is closed before the window has opened.
Chelsea hit the same wall twice
Chelsea’s interest is the longest-standing of the three. Their summer approach, valued at roughly €70m, was turned down months ago, and a renewed push in January was being prepared when Romano’s update landed.
PSG’s reported €80m is the most concrete of the current offers and still not expected to shift Catalonia’s position. Barcelona have been forced into reluctant sales before by their well-documented financial constraints, but the message from Deco and from Flick on Fermín has been consistent: no price has been set, because he is not for sale.

Fermín is in line to feature when Barcelona host Alavés in La Liga, with Flick’s defensive injury list, not his midfield, dominating the Barcelona head coach’s pre-match press conference.
