Four goals a game. That is the rate at which this Barcelona have gone through the first three months of 2026-27, and until Tuesday it was a number without a modern comparison. The 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa took Flick’s team to 60 goals in 15 matches across all competitions, and Barcelona’s statisticians had to go back to the 1926-27 season to find another side wearing the shirt that scored at a comparable rate.
The breakdown is Lamine Yamal opening at the Camp Nou after seven minutes and Raphinha putting the game beyond Villa with goals in the 52nd and 64th minutes, as Sky Sports’ match report has it. It was Barcelona’s first clean sheet in the Champions League in 19 matches, and it moved them above Unai Emery’s Villa into second in the league phase standings.
A record only 1926-27 Barcelona can match
That 1926-27 Barcelona, coached by Jack Domby and then Romà Forns and featuring Josep Samitier and Paulino Alcántara, scored 69 goals in 15 competitive matches, according to the club’s own historical note. Flick’s side sit nine goals short of that on the same number of fixtures, with another 40-plus matches of this season still to play.
The league half of the story is almost as striking. Barcelona won their first eight La Liga games of the campaign, only the second time in the club’s history they have begun a season with eight straight wins, as Opta noted in October when the tally stood at 34 goals in those eight games.

Raphinha equals Ronaldinho on 94
Raphinha’s two goals against Villa carried a separate weight. They took him to 94 goals in 190 official appearances for Barcelona, level with Ronaldinho, who needed 207 games for the same figure, as Goal reported.
Converted to a central role by Flick, the Brazilian has scored 19 goals in 13 matches this season. His double arrived on a day the club also confirmed his contract extension with president Joan Laporta, keeping him at the Camp Nou until June 30, 2030.
Ahead on the all-time list of Brazilians at Barcelona sit only Rivaldo on 130 and Evaristo de Macedo on 181, as Goal’s tally has it.
What has changed under Flick
Flick, who took charge in the summer of 2024, registered his 100th win in 131 official matches earlier this season, a benchmark the German reached faster than Pep Guardiola did at the club.
