The stage is set in Budapest for a captivating Champions League final on Saturday night, pitting Arsenal against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain. For Arsenal, the occasion presents a chance to make history, aiming to become European champions for the first time and secure a stunning double, having just clinched the Premier League title last week.

PSG, under manager Luis Enrique, are on course for a rare feat themselves, seeking back-to-back Champions League titles after storming to their inaugural trophy last season. Their path to the final included eliminating Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.

Kane weighs in on the final clash

England captain and Tottenham legend Harry Kane, who enjoyed a prolific season scoring 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern Munich, shared his insights on the upcoming final. Speaking to Sky Sports, Kane acknowledged the contrasting styles but predicted a tightly contested affair.

“It’s two different styles playing against each other but I think it will be a really even test,” Kane told Sky Sports. “Both teams have good qualities and can be dangerous. PSG are obviously reigning champions so of course they’re a difficult team to beat but I think Arsenal have shown this year that they can be one of the best teams in Europe, for sure. It will be an interesting final, we’ll have to see what happens.”

Kane reiterated his belief that the match would be “really even,” despite PSG’s status as reigning champions potentially making them “slight favourites.”

Arsenal’s quest for history

Arsenal arrive in Budapest riding a wave of momentum, having ended a 22-year wait for a Premier League title just last week. Manager Mikel Arteta has instilled a formidable belief in his squad, which is now looking to add European glory to their domestic success. The Gunners’ last appearance in a Champions League final was 20 years ago, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona.

Arteta, as reported by Metro, is confident in his team’s ability to seize the moment. “We have the opportunity to create new history in our club. I am convinced we are going to do it,” he declared.

PSG, meanwhile, will be looking to cement their place at Europe’s summit. Their maiden Champions League triumph last season saw them thrash Inter Milan 5-0 in the final, showcasing their attacking prowess. With Luis Enrique at the helm, the French giants possess a squad brimming with talent and the experience of winning on the biggest stage.
