The British Formula 1 star shared the bizarre story in an interview with The Athletic, when asked about the weirdest thing he’d ever signed:
“A pair of Japanese boxer shorts. And they were really small,” he said with a laugh.

Not Enough to Stop Him
According to Hamilton, he had no idea whether they were hotpants, regular underwear, or just part of some prank.
But that didn’t stop him from doing what was asked. The fans wanted the signature—and they wanted it on the back:
“I just thought, this is really weird. But I signed them anyway. The guy was so enthusiastic. I just imagine him dancing around in his closet wearing them,” Hamilton said.
