Liverpool step up pursuit of Barcelona winger
Market pressure builds at Anfield
Liverpool’s depth has come under scrutiny as the season has progressed, pushing the club back into transfer discussions earlier than anticipated. A combination of injuries, international commitments, and uneven form has limited attacking flexibility during a demanding stretch of the campaign.
Alexander Isak remains sidelined with a broken leg, while Hugo Ekitike has been unavailable for several recent fixtures. Mohamed Salah’s absence at the Africa Cup of Nations has further stretched resources, particularly with the forward yet to rediscover his usual consistency this season.
Focus shifts after Semenyo decision
Liverpool had previously considered a move for Antoine Semenyo, but that option was ruled out after the Ghana international chose to join Manchester City. With that avenue closed, recruitment staff have widened their search.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool have submitted a €50 million bid for Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji. The report describes the Swedish international as a player viewed internally as a long term addition rather than an immediate solution.

Limited role draws attention
Bardghji’s situation at Barcelona has attracted interest from abroad. According to Fichajes, the winger has started only three La Liga matches this season, struggling to secure a regular place in the starting lineup.
The same report suggests the proposal is appealing to the player, who is keen for more consistent playing time. From Barcelona’s perspective, the timing is significant given ongoing financial constraints.
The club signed Bardghji from FC Copenhagen for €2.5 million, meaning a sale at the reported valuation would represent a substantial return.
Planning beyond Salah
Liverpool do not see Bardghji as a direct replacement for Salah in the short term. Instead, the club view the move as part of broader succession planning.

The intention would be for the winger to develop gradually, benefiting from time alongside Salah while adapting to the demands of the Premier League before assuming a larger role in future seasons.
