Ferran Torres has emerged as a serious transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Barcelona with an important decision to make over the forward’s future.

The 26-year-old is under contract until June 2027. Unless a new agreement is reached, this summer could represent Barcelona’s final opportunity to secure a substantial transfer fee for the Spain international.

A move is far from complete, however, and reports of a bidding war between PSG and Aston Villa should be treated with caution.

PSG interest is genuine

According to Nicolas B of ParisFans, citing reporting from L’Équipe, PSG’s interest in Torres is genuine.

Luis Enrique is reported to have contacted the forward personally to explain how he would fit into the PSG side. The pair previously worked together with the Spanish national team, and Torres’ ability to play across the front line makes him a natural fit for the coach’s system.

Crucially, the same report states that PSG have not yet submitted a financial offer to Barcelona. The widely circulated claim that the French club have offered €25 million plus another €10 million in add-ons therefore cannot currently be substantiated.

Earlier reports suggested that Torres had given the green light to the move. ParisFans, citing Gianluca Di Marzio and Luca Bendoni of Sky Italia, reported that the player and PSG had reached an agreement in principle.

Any agreement with Torres would still leave PSG needing to negotiate a transfer fee with Barcelona.

Barcelona hold out for €50 million

Barcelona are not expected to sanction a cut-price departure. According to Bernat Aguilar of El Nacional, the Catalan club value Torres at €50 million and regard that figure as the minimum required to approve a sale.

That position could soften as the transfer window progresses, particularly because of the player’s contract situation. Barcelona risk losing much of their negotiating power if Torres enters the final months of his deal without signing an extension.

Aston Villa link remains uncertain

Aston Villa have previously been linked with Torres, and the impending departure of Morgan Rogers has created an obvious need for another attacking player.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea agreed a British-record £117 million deal for Rogers, giving Villa considerable room to reinvest.

There is, however, no firm evidence that Villa have submitted a fresh €50 million bid for Torres or identified him specifically as Rogers’ replacement. The reported figure appears to stem from earlier speculation rather than a confirmed proposal following the Chelsea deal.

For now, PSG’s interest is the more concrete development. A transfer remains possible, but talk of a full-scale bidding war is ahead of the available evidence.
