Man United eye shock free transfer as Chelsea and Juventus circle elite goalkeeper
United reassess goalkeeping plans
Manchester United are already reviewing their goalkeeping options for next season as uncertainty continues over who should be trusted as the club’s long term number one.
The club brought in Senne Lammens last summer and the Belgian has delivered a number of assured performances. Even so, head coach Ruben Amorim has yet to fully commit to him as his first choice going forward.
Earlier in the campaign, Altay Bayindir was handed the starting role but struggled to establish himself. That situation changed after United moved on from Andre Onana, prompting another shift in goal.
While Lammens has impressed with his presence and command, a lack of consistent clean sheets has left the door open for further evaluation.

Experience becomes a priority
United explored the possibility of signing Emiliano Martinez last summer before ultimately choosing a different route. Now, Amorim is understood to be keen on adding a more experienced figure to anchor his defensive line.
Financial considerations may influence the club’s approach. With midfield and defensive reinforcements expected to take priority, spending heavily on a goalkeeper could prove difficult.
That context has increased interest in players who may be available without a transfer fee, especially those with proven pedigree at the highest level.
Contract uncertainty in Milan
According to Calciomercato, Manchester United are closely tracking AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, whose current contract expires in June. The Italian outlet reports that Chelsea and Juventus are also monitoring the France international’s situation.

Milan are said to be pushing to keep him, offering a new deal that would significantly increase his salary along with performance related incentives.
Despite those efforts, the report states that Maignan has not yet committed to staying in Italy, leaving his future unresolved as the season progresses.
Premier League interest grows
Calciomercato reports that Manchester United and Chelsea are emerging as the most realistic options should Maignan decide to leave Milan, with Juventus still interested but facing financial limitations of their own.
From United’s perspective, the opportunity to secure a goalkeeper of Maignan’s experience and reputation on a free transfer would be difficult to ignore.
