An era is ending and a new one is beginning at Real Madrid. According to Marca, Carlo Ancelotti will say goodbye after the end of the La Liga season on May 25, and he will be succeeded by Xabi Alonso, who has signed a three-year contract with the Spanish giants.
Ancelotti has led Real Madrid to a total of 15 titles during his time as coach, and his name will be etched in gold in the club’s history.
During the spring, it was decided that he would leave his position at the end of the season, and now it is Xabi Alonso who will guide the team into the future.
Alonso arrives with major success from Bayer Leverkusen, where in 2024 he secured the club’s first-ever Bundesliga title and also won the domestic cup. His tactical approach and ability to develop players have made him one of the most sought-after young coaches in Europe.

A familiar face in Valdebebas
Although Alonso has been away from the club since 2019, he knows the organization deeply from his time as a player.
He will be joined by his long-time assistant Sebas Parrilla and fitness coach Alberto Encinas, both of whom have worked with him at Sanse and Leverkusen.
There is still uncertainty about whether the club’s current fitness coach, Antonio Pintus, will remain in his role, but goalkeeper coach Luis Llopis will continue as part of the staff.
Focus on stability and precision
The club and Alonso agree that now is not the time for a revolution.

The strategy remains that the sporting director has the final say in transfers, although Alonso will be allowed to make requests.
The focus is on signing a central midfielder and a central defender – with Huijsen being a key name.
Ancelotti is expected to take over the Brazilian national team after the summer’s Club World Cup, while Real Madrid is counting on Alonso to quickly take charge and continue the club’s steady progress.
