Speaking to German broadcaster Sport1, Dreesen was blunt about the limits of what he can commit to on the France winger, whose Bayern contract runs until June 2029.
“In this business, making promises is a tricky matter,” he told Sport1.
“Whether we can keep him permanently is something we will discuss again in the summer.”
That is a distinctly different tone from the one running through Bayern’s public messaging on Olise since the summer window closed. Max Eberl, the club’s board member for sport, doubled down on the untouchable framing two days later.
“If you want to win the Champions League, that question doesn’t arise,” Eberl said in a separate interview.
“That’s the beauty of Bayern Munich: you don’t have to waver, no matter the sum.”
Eberl added that the club would “know by next summer whether or not he is leaning towards an extension,” while stressing that the 24-year-old “still has a three-year contract, and I emphasize: without a release clause.”
Liverpool still on the trail
Liverpool have tracked Olise for more than a year, initially as a right-wing option after Mohamed Salah announced he would leave Anfield a year before his contract ended. The Reds’ attacking priorities have since shifted: they spent a British-record £125m on Alexander Isak and a further sum of up to £123m on Bradley Barcola.

Bild reporter Christian Falk has argued that the Barcola deal in particular may have priced Liverpool out. Barcola, he told TEAMtalk, had been on Bayern’s own shortlist as a possible Olise successor, and losing that lever to Liverpool has weakened the Reds’ hand for next summer.
Real Madrid link denied
Dreesen was sharper on the Real Madrid rumours that ran through the summer window without producing a bid.
“That simply wasn’t true,” he told Sport1.
“We’ve had no offers on the table. We’ve always said that we’re not interested.”

He was warmer on the player himself.
“Olise is extremely important for this team. He’s a magician on the pitch, and this team functions so excellently together.”
A release clause on the table
Any new Olise deal is likely to include a mechanism Bayern have historically resisted: a release clause. Falk has reported that Bayern’s next offer will include one, with figures floated between €150m and €250m, in line with the clause the club added for Jamal Musiala.
That would mark a real shift in how Bayern do business, and would give a chasing club, Liverpool included, a fixed price to meet rather than a full negotiation. For a player who delivered 15 goals and 19 assists in 32 Bundesliga matches last season and was named the league’s Player of the Season, a nine-figure clause is where the market has been pointing.

Olise remains under contract in Munich until 2029, and by Eberl’s own timetable the next update on his intentions is due next summer.
