Morgan Rogers wants Harry Kane crowned on Monday night, and he is not keeping it quiet. Asked by Hayters TV where he stands in the Ballon d’Or debate, the Aston Villa midfielder went straight at the question.

“He has gone beyond everything people imagined he was capable of doing… the hat-tricks, the goals at the World Cup and the goals with Bayern. What more can he do? He should be rewarded for that,” Rogers told Hayters TV, as the quote was carried on Yahoo Sports.

Rogers delivered his verdict in the days after a Wembley night that gave his case fresh material. On 6 October, England beat Czechia 3-0 in the UEFA Nations League, with Kane scoring twice and drawing level with Peter Shilton on 125 England caps, the outfield record-holder matching the goalkeeper’s long-standing appearance mark.

Bellingham: nothing surprises him

Jude Bellingham, speaking after the win, backed the same horse without quite going as far as Rogers.

“Nothing he does surprises me. He is a great role model and a great person, and it is an honour to share the pitch with him. Everything he gets, he deserves, because he works extremely hard for it,” Bellingham said.

Asked directly whether Kane could lift the trophy in London, the Real Madrid midfielder was more measured: “Yes, who knows? It is certainly possible.”

61 goals and a third straight Bundesliga top-scorer title

The club body of work the two England players are pointing to is Kane’s 2025-26 season at Bayern Munich. He finished with 61 goals in all competitions and claimed the European Golden Shoe.

He also won the Bundesliga’s top-scorer trophy, the Torjägerkanone, for a third straight year with 36 league goals, and signed off the campaign with a hat-trick in the DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart, the trophy that completed Bayern’s domestic double. The Champions League run ended in the semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain.

Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal are the names most frequently placed alongside Kane in the shortlist conversation, and no clear favourite has been publicly declared before the vote is read out.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony takes place on Monday 26 October at the London Palladium, the first time the award will be handed out away from Paris since France Football created it in 1956.
