Real Madrid has reportedly made a final decision on the futures of Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni after a training-ground incident that left the Uruguayan midfielder injured, according to SPORTbible.

According to reports from Spain, tensions between the two teammates escalated during training this week, prompting emergency meetings within the club. Despite speculation surrounding their futures, Real Madrid have no intention of selling either player during the summer transfer window.

The incident unfolded over two days, beginning with a row between the two players on Wednesday. Spanish media reported that matters escalated significantly on Thursday, leading to Valverde requiring immediate medical attention. The Uruguay international fell to the floor during the argument, cutting his head on a table. Real Madrid later confirmed Valverde suffered cranioencephalic trauma, an injury that will sideline him for 10 to 14 days.

Crucially, Tchouameni was not responsible for Valverde’s injury. Valverde himself addressed the controversy on Instagram, clarifying the circumstances. “During the argument, I accidentally hit a table, causing myself a small cut on my forehead that required a routine visit to the hospital,” Valverde stated. He further emphasized, “At no point has my teammate hit me, nor have I hit him, although I understand that for you it may have been easier to believe that we beat each other up or that it was intentional, but that did not happen.”

Injury sidelines Valverde for key matches

The accidental injury means Valverde will miss several crucial fixtures for Los Blancos. He has been ruled out of Sunday’s highly anticipated game against Barcelona, as well as the subsequent two matches against Las Palmas and Sevilla. His absence comes at a challenging time for Real Madrid, who currently trail Barcelona by 11 points in La Liga and face the prospect of their first trophyless season since 2020-2021.

Club reinforces commitment to midfielders

Following the incident, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reportedly spoke with both Valverde and Tchouameni. An “emergency crisis meeting” was also held in the dressing room immediately after Thursday’s training session. Despite the seriousness of the events, EL MUNDO reports that the club has taken a firm stance: selling either Valverde or Tchouameni is “off the table,” and both will remain at the club beyond the summer transfer window.

Both midfielders are considered among the best in their positions globally, attracting interest from Europe’s elite clubs. France international Tchouameni has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, while Valverde has historically drawn interest from Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid’s decision underscores their belief in the players’ long-term value to the squad, even amidst internal tensions and a challenging season.
