Madrid’s push to lock down its young core is the quiet story behind an otherwise jittery start to José Mourinho’s first season back at the Bernabéu. Güler and Tchouaméni have both been reported as having signed extensions to 2031, with the paperwork done and only the formal announcements pending.

The French midfielder’s new deal was first reported by AS and was timed alongside Güler’s. Tchouaméni’s previous contract ran to 2028, Güler’s to 2029. Both now stretch to the summer of 2031.

El Español described the policy in detail last week, listing Güler, Tchouaméni and Brahim Díaz as effectively renewed and waiting on announcements, with Thibaut Courtois close to a shorter extension into 2028. Bellingham, the paper reported, is the “major operation” in the coming months.

Bellingham moves to the Mbappé tier

Bellingham’s current deal runs until 2029 at a reported basic salary of around €20m per season. Madrid want to put the England international on the same salary band as Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé, the club’s two highest earners, as part of an extension through 2031.

Goal, citing transfer reporter Matteo Moretto, put the proposed figure at €48m per season, with the club targeting an agreement before the end of 2026.

Football365’s reporting is similar, with the salary projected to rise by roughly 50% to over €30m per year. In the same piece, Madrid are quoted as regarding Bellingham as the “best midfielder in world football” and a leading contender for the next Ballon d’Or.

Bellingham, who turned 23 in June, has three goals and two assists in La Liga so far this season and started Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Villarreal before the international break.

Chelsea’s name keeps coming up

The urgency comes partly from the English market. Chelsea have been linked with Bellingham repeatedly this year, with FootballTransfers’ IndyKaila calling the club “very keen” and the situation “one to watch” while negotiations with Madrid continue. No bid has been tabled.

Bellingham has previously said he would like to play Premier League football at some point in his career, but the reporting around his talks with Madrid is consistent that this is not an immediate aim. He is described as settled in the Spanish capital.

What is actually signed

For now, nothing. The Güler and Tchouaméni extensions are reported as done and awaiting announcement rather than confirmed by the club. Madrid typically announce renewals in clusters once the season settles.

Bellingham’s talks are at an earlier stage than those of Güler or Courtois, according to El Español. Real Madrid next play Getafe on Sunday, 19 October at the Coliseum.
