Romero broke the deadlock in the 24th minute at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, finishing a move unlocked by a backheeled pass from Fofana. It was the 26-year-old’s third league goal of the campaign, according to Spanish wire EFE.
The win was Sevilla’s first at home in 36 days, after a road trip that took in a 3-3 draw at Levante and a 1-4 defeat at Real Madrid. The hosts pressed Osasuna back for long spells of the first half.
Correia settled it eight minutes from time, running onto another Fofana ball that broke out of midfield. It was the Portuguese forward’s second goal of the season.
Fofana’s performance in the middle of the pitch was described in Cope’s match chronicle as “sobresaliente” (outstanding), with the France midfielder credited for both assists.

García Plaza asks fans for calm
García Plaza, who took over at a relegation-threatened Sevilla in March 2026 on a deal that runs to June 2027, was not interested in riding the mood of a result that moved his side to 17 points from 10 games.
“When people are optimistic I ask for calm,” the Sevilla head coach told El Desmarque.
He also told the outlet his team should have been sharper in front of goal: “We fell short at the other end, a deserved win, we could have scored more goals.”
In the same press conference, García Plaza told reporters Romero is best used in a two-forward system, calling that his natural position. He was more measured on Fofana, saying the midfielder was still adapting to a different role at the club even though his contribution against Osasuna was decisive.

A platform after Madrid and Levante
The home performance stood in contrast to a run that had put Sevilla’s season under the microscope: three games without a win, including the 1-4 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu and the draw at Levante where García Plaza’s side threw away a lead.
Romero, long linked with moves out of Andalusia at previous windows, has now scored three league goals this season. His finish against Osasuna arrived in a tactical setup his own head coach prefers for him, which gives both striker and manager a template to repeat.
The win leaves Sevilla sixth on 17 points. Osasuna sit 12th on 11.
