Arsenal, fresh off a Premier League triumph and a Champions League final appearance, is reportedly launching an ambitious bid to bring Brazilian international Vinicius Junior to the Emirates Stadium. However, the move for the 26-year-old Real Madrid forward is complicated by his deep-seated loyalty to the Spanish giants, despite a contract standoff.
Sources close to the player’s “inner circle” have provided Arsenal with “information” regarding a potential transfer, indicating the Gunners’ serious intent. Yet, Vinicius Junior’s current contract with Real Madrid is set to expire next summer, and ongoing talks to extend his stay have reached a standstill. This contractual uncertainty would typically open the door for interested clubs, but the player’s personal stance presents a significant hurdle.
According to Tomas Rancero, speaking on Diario AS’s YouTube channel, Vinicius Junior has expressed a strong desire not to leave Real Madrid without the club receiving a transfer fee. “Take note of this. This is information from his inner circle, because Vinicius has good friends in Madrid and what he’s been saying in recent weeks is that he doesn’t want to leave without leaving a single Euro in Real Madrid’s coffers,” Rancero stated. “In other words, when people bring it up, and especially among friends, where conversations are natural and you have trust, they ask: ‘Are you leaving for free next year?’ He says: ‘No, I can’t leave Real Madrid for free because Real Madrid took me in when I was 16’.” This sentiment underscores a profound loyalty to the club that signed him as a teenager.
Arsenal’s alternative targets and midfield ambitions
The pursuit of Vinicius Junior, who primarily operates from the left flank, comes after Arsenal missed out on their initial number one attacking target, Morgan Rogers. That move was reportedly hijacked by Chelsea, forcing Arsenal to pivot to alternatives.

Among these alternatives was Yan Diomande, another player who typically operates from the left. Arsenal made inquiries about Diomande’s situation, but Fabrizio Romano reported that the player’s preference was to join Paris Saint-Germain. Intriguingly, there are also reports suggesting Diomande could now be on his way to Real Madrid, adding another layer of complexity to Arsenal’s attacking recruitment.
Beyond the forward line, Arsenal is also keen to bolster their midfield. Ben Jacobs, a senior correspondent for GIVEMESPORT, reports that the club is set to accelerate talks this week to sign another South American star: Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. Arsenal is reportedly willing to pay beyond £70 million for the 28-year-old, and there is said to be a “buy-in” from Guimaraes himself regarding a switch to the Emirates. However, Newcastle United denies any contact from Arsenal regarding their captain and is likely to reject an offer exceeding £70 million, with Arsenal yet to launch a formal bid.
