2025 Best NFL Quarterbacks: Top 10 Rankings

Quarterback is the most important position in football, and every season the debate continues about who truly deserves to be called the best in the NFL. Patrick Mahomes has long been the consensus No. 1, but with MVP campaigns from Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, the gap has closed. Here are FOX Sports’ top 10 quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season, ranked in reverse order.

10. Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers

Armed with one of the strongest arms in the NFL, Herbert has already thrown for more yards (21,093) in his first five seasons than any quarterback in league history. While he hasn’t yet earned an All-Pro nod or deep playoff success, his consistency and raw talent keep him in the top 10.

9. Jared Goff – Detroit Lions

Goff has re-established himself as a true franchise QB in Detroit, leading the league’s most explosive offense last season with a completion rate above 72%. He may not be flashy, but his efficiency and leadership have elevated the Lions.

8. Baker Mayfield – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mayfield delivered one of the best seasons in Bucs history, throwing for 4,500 yards and 41 TDs despite key injuries around him. He also added 378 rushing yards, proving his dual-threat value. A massive contract extension could be next if he repeats his 2024 form.

7. Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams

The veteran gunslinger continues to climb the all-time record books, now top 10 in passing touchdowns and yards. While durability is a concern, Stafford remains a dangerous passer with unmatched experience and clutch ability.

6. Jayden Daniels – Washington Commanders

The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year, Daniels electrified the NFL with over 3,500 passing yards and nearly 900 rushing yards, leading Washington to the NFC Championship Game. Poised beyond his years, he’s already one of the league’s most exciting QBs.

5. Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles

A Super Bowl champion and two-time finalist in three years, Hurts continues to silence doubters. His dual-threat ability and calm leadership have made him one of the most reliable quarterbacks in football, even if his passing stats aren’t always eye-popping.

4. Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals

Burrow led the NFL in passing in 2024 with nearly 5,000 yards and 43 touchdowns. Despite missing the playoffs, his precision and toughness keep him among the elite, especially with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins as his weapons.

3. Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills

The reigning MVP has one of the strongest arms in the league and is as dangerous running the ball as he is throwing it. His only roadblock has been Mahomes in the postseason, but Allen remains one of the most dominant players in football.

T-1. Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens

Jackson took his passing to new heights in 2024, surpassing 4,000 yards for the first time while remaining one of the most dangerous rushing threats in history. A two-time MVP, he’s proving he’s not just dynamic but complete.

T-1. Patrick Mahomes – Kansas City Chiefs

Even in a “down” year statistically, Mahomes led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl appearance. With three straight AFC titles and two championships in the past three years, he remains the standard for NFL quarterbacks.
