According to Sweden Herald’s report on Pérez’s re-election and Mourinho’s comeback, Pérez secured a new term after defeating a challenge from Enrique Riquelme. His victory follows a season in which Real Madrid failed to win a major trophy, with the campaign centred on promises of significant investment in the squad.

Mourinho set for Bernabéu return

Pérez’s first major announcement was the return of Mourinho, who previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013. During that spell, the Portuguese coach won La Liga and the Copa del Rey, while also restoring the club’s competitiveness in Europe.

Mourinho is currently linked with a move from Benfica, with the deal expected to cost around €15 million. Benfica has not yet formally confirmed his departure.

“We are proud to have the best players in the world, and proud to welcome back one of the best coaches in the world, a madridista like José Mourinho,” Pérez said in comments quoted by the club’s website.

Dumfries deal and record bid planned

Pérez also confirmed that Real Madrid have moved to strengthen at right-back by triggering the £20 million release clause of Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

The larger focus, however, is on a potential record signing. According to Football365’s report on Real Madrid’s planned €150 million bid, Pérez said the club are preparing an offer of at least €150 million for an unnamed player at a Champions League club.

Such a fee would be the largest in Real Madrid’s history. Pérez described the target as a young midfielder or forward, but ruled out Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Michael Olise. He also said the player is not currently in the Premier League and is not a defender.

“I will soon make an offer to a Champions League club, on Tuesday, which will be the biggest payment Real Madrid have ever made for a player — at least €150 million,” Pérez said. “He is a true Galáctico.”

Olise linked despite Pérez denial

Although Pérez publicly denied that the target is Michael Olise, Football365 reported that The Telegraph has identified the Bayern Munich winger as the player in question.

Olise, described as 24 years old in the report, is said to have produced an outstanding season in Germany, contributing 22 goals and 31 assists in all competitions.

Pérez’s re-election points to another assertive phase in Real Madrid’s transfer strategy. With Mourinho lined up for a second spell in charge and the club pursuing at least one marquee signing, the president appears intent on reshaping the team quickly after a disappointing campaign.
