Charles Leclerc’s miniature dachshund Leo picked his spot carefully in the Hungaroring paddock on Friday. He squatted against the wall of Red Bull Racing’s garage, directly beneath the number three that belongs to Max Verstappen.

Photographers caught the whole thing. Alexandra Leclerc clasped a hand to her mouth. Her husband reached for his phone to take a picture.

Red Bull’s social team answered twice.

‘No Leo, that is so not right’

The first reply was a callback to a moment F1 fans know by heart. “No Leo, that is so not right,” the team posted, echoing Toto Wolff’s Abu Dhabi 2021 radio outburst at race director Michael Masi.

Then came the image that turned the wet spot into a paddock in-joke. A member of the Red Bull garage crew posed against the wall holding a piece of paper that read simply:

Leo was here.

Peak paddock silliness

Within hours the pictures had travelled well beyond Formula 1’s usual audience. “Pee one for Leo,” one fan wrote on X. Others noted that a small dog had delivered the wittiest crossover of the weekend between the sport’s two rival camps.

Leo is a paddock regular who travels with the Leclercs to most races. Whether the visit was a small statement on the constructors’ fight or a straightforward call of nature, Ferrari’s driver was still laughing as he walked away, and Red Bull let the joke land on their side of the wall.
