Tadej Pogacar is not ready to commit to a 2027 program.
The Slovenian told viewers during a MyWhoosh virtual community ride that his team has drawn up multiple scenarios and that only the Tour de France is firm.
“There’s like three options that I can do. The team gave me three options of my calendar,” Pogacar said in comments covered by Domestique Cycling.
“I think the final decision will be done in December, where we have another training camp.”

A return to the UAE Tour in February is on each draft, together with a block of spring Classics and the Tour. In 2026 he claimed a fifth Tour overall to join Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain on the race’s all-time list.
Giro preference, Vuelta pressure
The real question is the second Grand Tour. Pogacar told Slovenian broadcaster RTV SLO he would rather return to the Giro d’Italia but feels the pull of the only Grand Tour he has yet to finish.
“I’d prefer to race the Giro, but I’ll have to complete La Vuelta at some point. I think that will be my goal for next year: the World Championships, combined with the Tour and La Vuelta,” he told RTV SLO, per Cycling Up To Date.
That line reads as more than a preference. Pogacar abandoned the 2026 Vuelta on stage 8 after a crash in which he fractured his C7 vertebra and his left collarbone, the latter requiring surgery.

A route his rival calls tailor-made
The 2027 Tour de France was unveiled in Paris on 22 October 2026, with a Grand Départ in Edinburgh on 2 July and a finish in Paris on 25 July. Across 3,479km and 21 stages, the race features 71km of individual time trial, the most since 2012, and a Pyrenean final week.
Jonas Vingegaard, whose 2026 Tour ended with a season-ending injury on stage 15, has already made clear what he thinks of the kind of parcours ASO is drawing up. In Visma Lease a Bike’s post-Tour documentary he was filmed assessing the summer’s mountain stages.
“This route is tailor-made for him. There was nothing we could do today, he’s too explosive,” Vingegaard said of Pogacar in the documentary, per Cycling Up To Date.
Michael Rasmussen pushed the argument further on Viaplay, as reported by Cycling Up To Date, suggesting ASO is now looking past the Dane-Slovenian duopoly.

“I think it smells like ASO have acknowledged that Jonas Vingegaard is no longer Pogacar’s number one challenger,” Rasmussen said.
“They have to go in another direction. That is towards Paul Seixas and Remco Evenepoel.”
Pogacar is still on light duty. He said he restarted training around two weeks ago, and the final version of his 2027 schedule is due after UAE Team Emirates’ December camp.
