Alexander Isak signed for Liverpool from Newcastle United last summer for a British record of £125m, according to Yardbarker, after forfeiting a £5m loyalty payment to force the deadline-day move through. He now earns £300,000 a week at Anfield, roughly £160,000 more than he had been on at St James’ Park, yet he still sits well behind the Premier League’s top of the pay table.

That top is Erling Haaland, and nobody is close. The Norwegian is on £525,000 a week at Manchester City on a contract that runs until 2034, £175,000 a week clear of the players ranked joint-second. Declan Rice at Arsenal, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Enzo Fernández, Manchester City’s £125m signing from Chelsea, all earn £350,000, as Football365 reports.

The top earners by weekly wage

The highest-paid players in the Premier League in 2026-27, by reported base weekly wage:

  1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City): £525,000
  2. Declan Rice (Arsenal): £350,000
  3. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool): £350,000
  4. Enzo Fernández (Manchester City): £350,000
  5. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): £320,000
  6. Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool): £320,000
  7. Cody Gakpo (Liverpool): £310,000
  8. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal): £300,000
  9. Marcus Rashford (Manchester United): £300,000
  10. Alexander Isak (Liverpool): £300,000
  11. Phil Foden (Manchester City): £300,000
  12. Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool): £300,000
  13. Kai Havertz (Arsenal): £280,000

That spread reads like a title-contender roll call. Liverpool have five players on at least £300,000 a week. Manchester City have Haaland, Enzo Fernández on £350,000 and Phil Foden on £300,000. Arsenal have Declan Rice on £350,000, Bukayo Saka on £300,000 and Kai Havertz on £280,000.

The gap outside the top clubs

Beyond the title contenders the top-earner figures drop sharply. Chelsea’s biggest wage is Morgan Rogers on £280,000 a week, according to SportBible’s club-by-club breakdown. Tottenham lead with Omar Marmoush on £250,000, Everton pay £225,000 to Jack Grealish, and Newcastle’s top earner after Isak’s departure is Joelinton on £190,000.

Promoted sides sit much further back. Leeds United’s highest wage is Dominic Calvert-Lewin on £120,000 a week, Sunderland pay £110,000 to Granit Xhaka, and Coventry City’s top earner is on £50,000. Haaland takes home more than ten times what the best-paid player at Coventry does.

Manchester United, outside this season’s elite shortlist on the pitch, still pay Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford above the £300,000 line, with Bruno Fernandes the dressing-room top earner at £320,000.

On a pure base-salary chart alone, Haaland’s lead over second place is already £175,000 a week, before any of the appearance, goal and trophy bonuses that his contract loads on top.
