Bruno Fernandes speaks out as Bayern Munich lurk and Manchester United’s stance raises eyebrows

Interview that reignited speculation

An interview given by Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has placed his future back under the spotlight. Speaking to Portuguese broadcaster Canal 11, Fernandes addressed recent transfer rumours that have circulated during a difficult period for the club.

According to BBC Sport, the interview came after weeks of reports linking the midfielder with a possible move away from Manchester United, despite him remaining under a long-term contract.

United’s position and Ruben Amorim’s influence

Reports in recent months suggested that Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim was keen for Fernandes to stay. Amorim, who shares nationality with the Portugal international, is understood to see him as a central figure within the squad.

At the same time, several media outlets reported that the club were willing to listen to a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia, leaving the final decision largely in Fernandes’ hands. According to BBC Sport, United indicated they would not stand in the way if their captain chose to leave.

Comments that revealed frustration

Fernandes ultimately decided to remain at Old Trafford, but his interview revealed that the situation had left a mark. Reflecting on how events unfolded, he said,

“From the club I felt it was, ‘If you go it’s not so bad for us’. It hurts me a bit. I’m a player that no-one can criticise, I’m always available, I always give my best.”

BBC Sport noted that the remarks suggested disappointment with the handling of the situation rather than an immediate intention to force a move.

Bayern Munich watching from abroad

Interest from Europe has not gone away. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bayern Munich are closely monitoring Fernandes’ situation and could consider a move during the next transfer window.

The report claims the German champions may be willing to test Manchester United’s resolve with a bid in the region of €50 million. There has been no official confirmation from either club, and the report remains speculative at this stage.

Given United’s inconsistent season, Ruben Amorim may be reluctant to approve a sale unless a suitable replacement is already identified.

Contract strength shapes the summer narrative

Fernandes remains under contract at Manchester United until 2027, with an option for an additional year. That agreement places the club in a strong negotiating position should formal interest materialise.

For now, Fernandes continues as a key figure at Old Trafford, but with major clubs watching and tensions still evident, the coming summer could play a defining role in shaping the next chapter of his career.
