Dreesen used an interview with German tabloid Sport Bild to shut the door on the latest round of rumours tying Haaland to the Bundesliga champions, as relayed by Yahoo Sports. His argument was simple: Bayern’s attack already works.
“We have Harry Kane, the best striker in the world, and an attacking line-up that is second to none in Europe. So this is not a question we even need to consider.”
The chatter around the Norwegian has grown as Manchester City deal with the fallout from the Premier League’s financial case against the club, prompting speculation about which of their biggest names could become available. Bayern themselves were linked with Haaland before his moves to Borussia Dortmund and then City.
Afford any player, not every player
In a wider Sport Bild interview, Dreesen set out Bayern’s transfer thinking, as reported by Goal. The CEO said Bayern retain the financial muscle to sign any player on the market, but drew a line between capacity and willingness.
“A new signing has to fit the philosophy of the coach and the club. Just having a big name does you no good at all. Football is a team sport.”
Not everything expensive is good, Dreesen stressed, and any newcomer has to fit the group. He framed Bayern’s approach as being able to afford any player, but not wanting to buy every player.
Kane, Díaz and Olise as the recent template
Asked about Bayern’s record in the Premier League market, Dreesen pointed to the forwards already in Munich, per Yahoo Sports.
“We have shown that we can sign players from the Premier League, not only with Harry Kane, but also with Luis Díaz and Michael Olise. We have a wonderful team with a mix of players that we are very happy with.”

Kane arrived from Tottenham, Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, and Luis Díaz has since joined the same forward line.
The context around Haaland’s future shifted again on 29 September 2026, when the Premier League confirmed Manchester City had been found guilty of 114 of the 115 financial charges first brought in February 2023. Punishment will be set in a separate hearing, and City have said they intend to appeal. Bayern’s position is unchanged either way: Dreesen has publicly ruled out a move.
