Pedro Porro went on Cadena SER’s El Larguero on Thursday night and gave his clearest answer yet about the two Spanish giants circling him. There is talk, he said, but there is nothing on the table.

“There is interest. People ask about your situation, but no one has told me they want me; it is not a real interest. On top of that, I did not want to listen,” Porro told the programme.

The remark lands into a saga Spanish outlets have run for weeks. Infobae reported in mid-October that Barcelona wanted the Spain full-back and that Real Madrid were ready to muscle in on any deal.

Porro, a world champion with Spain in July’s 1-0 extra-time win over Argentina at MetLife Stadium, extended his Tottenham deal through June 2031 in the weeks before that tournament. He said he had timed it on purpose, to go into the World Cup with his future already settled.

‘It would be deeply unfair’ to his club

Asked to pick between Madrid and Barça, Porro declined. He said he could adapt to any team and that the preference was better left to supporters to argue over.

“It would be deeply unfair for me to talk about matters other than those relating to Spurs, because in the end I am tied to them by a contract,” he told Manu Carreño’s programme, in quotes translated by Goal.

The Spaniard did acknowledge the pull of home. He said a return to Spain at some point would make him happy, without putting a date on it, and insisted he had deliberately avoided conversations about any specific offers.

Why nothing has firmed up

Porro offered a tidy explanation for the silence from both clubs. In his telling, Tottenham have simply priced him out, because they rate him as one of the best right-backs around.

The compliment he saved for his most direct Real Madrid rival was pointed. Porro described Dani Carvajal as the best right-back ever to play for the club by a wide margin, and praised midfielder Fede Valverde as an exceptional player in every sense of the word.
