England midfielder Jack Grealish is making significant strides in his recovery from a season-ending foot injury, a development that could pave the way for a permanent move to Everton. The 30-year-old, currently on loan at Goodison Park from Manchester City, underwent an operation for a stress fracture 10 weeks ago.
Grealish sustained the injury during Everton’s 1-0 victory over his former club Aston Villa in January. Despite the setback, which prematurely ended his season, his rehabilitation appears to be progressing exceptionally well.
Grealish’s positive recovery outlook
Speaking to BBC Sport, Grealish expressed optimism about his current condition and the feedback from medical professionals. “I feel really good in myself now,” he stated. “I had a 10-week Zoom call with the surgeon, who said it couldn’t be looking any better at this stage.”
This positive assessment has clearly buoyed the midfielder. “So for me, it’s happy days and so good to hear news like that,” Grealish added, indicating his morale remains high despite the enforced period on the sidelines.

Everton’s transfer interest and valuation challenge
During his loan spell, Grealish proved to be a valuable asset for Everton, making 22 appearances across all competitions. His contributions included two goals and six assists
With just one year remaining on his Manchester City contract, Everton has reportedly expressed strong interest in securing Grealish on a permanent basis, as previously reported by BBC Sport. However, any potential deal would require careful negotiation.
Manchester City’s rough valuation of Grealish stands at approximately £50 million, a figure Everton would likely need to significantly reduce to make a permanent transfer feasible. Despite the financial hurdle, Grealish has nothing but praise for his temporary club.
“I can’t thank [Everton] enough for the way they’ve been with me since I’ve been injured – they’ve been brilliant. From the staff, to the players, to the manager,” he remarked, highlighting the strong bond he has formed during his time at the club.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Grealish’s recovery progress and Manchester City’s asking price will be key factors in determining whether his future lies permanently on Merseyside.
