The design sits on Kyle Walker’s leg. Three words, “four in a row”, marking Manchester City’s four consecutive Premier League titles completed in 2024.
If the Premier League’s commission ruling stands, the medals those words refer to could be wiped from the record books. The tattoo would be going with them.
“Well I’m probably going to have to do that bit!” Walker told talkSPORT. “I’ll try and keep it on, but hopefully we don’t get things taken away.”
The defender did not hide from the awkwardness of the conversation itself.

“It’s the big elephant in the room we’re probably all going to be asked when doing interviews or whatever. It doesn’t look great.”
The verdict that put the titles in play
On 28 September 2026, an Independent Commission found Manchester City guilty of 114 of the 115 financial-breach charges brought by the Premier League, a decision that covered a nine-season window from 2009 to 2018. The commission concluded the club had used sham sponsorship contracts, with payments topped up by the ownership, to inflate revenue by around £900m.
City lodged a formal appeal on 1 October, insisting the ruling contains “clear material errors” and pointing to what the club calls a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence. The three-person appeal board’s decision will be final, with no recourse to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. An outcome is expected before the end of the 2026-27 season.
Sanctions are a separate matter. If the appeal fails, a further hearing would decide the punishment. Potential outcomes include heavy fines, points deductions, retrospective stripping of titles won in the affected period, or outright expulsion from the Premier League.

“I’ll defend the players for the rest of my life”
Walker did not try to re-litigate the commission’s finding, but was unambiguous about where his loyalty lies.
“Let’s not hide from the fact they’ve been found guilty but they’re going through an appeal. As a player all I can say is all we did is go out and play our best as a team and I’ll defend the players for the rest of my life, because I feel what we did and achieved in that time was incredible and probably won’t be done ever again. But from the outside looking in, it doesn’t look great.”
He pressed the on-pitch achievement a little harder when the subject moved to the four straight titles themselves.
“But you look at the likes of the great Man United squads; they never managed to get four in a row.”

Not every City fan is applauding
The framing has not landed well in every corner of the City support. SPORTbible collected a sweep of hostile reactions from Manchester City supporters on social media, including “I can’t believe this guy wore the armband” and “Worst captain ever. How he has ruined his legacy after he left and in his last couple of seasons is phenomenal.”
The next concrete step is the appeal hearing, with a ruling due before the current Premier League season ends.
