The three-time PDC World Champion, 37, was celebrating King’s Day on Monday in Den Bosch when the altercation occurred. The viral video shows security guards intervening to apprehend the aggressor after Van Gerwen was struck.

Management addresses the incident

In the wake of the footage gaining traction, MODUS Sports Management, representing Van Gerwen, released a statement clarifying their client’s involvement. “We are aware of footage circulating of an incident involving Michael van Gerwen,” the statement read. “He did not provoke the situation and was not at fault. Premier League aspirations continue

The incident comes at a crucial juncture in Van Gerwen’s season. Considered one of the biggest names in darts, he is currently competing in the Premier League darts, where he holds fourth place in the standings.
