Patrick Mahomes travels to Miami off a 382-yard, three-touchdown night in a 33-30 overtime win over Indianapolis, a result that pushed the Chiefs’ streak of regular-season overtime wins to eight and tied the all-time NFL record set by the 49ers from 2003-2010. Harrison Butker’s 40-yard field goal decided it.

Panthers keep rolling after 34-3 rout

Nobody had Carolina blowing anyone out by 31 points in Week 2. Bryce Young went 23 of 36 for 287 yards and three touchdowns as the Panthers put 34 unanswered on the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on September 20. Linebacker Devin Lloyd added a 53-yard pick-six, and Carolina forced five turnovers.

Cleveland is next. The Browns opened as 2.5-point underdogs for their home opener at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday.

New Orleans stunned Baltimore late

Quarterback Tyler Shough scored from the one on fourth-and-goal with 1:28 to play, and safety Julian Blackmon intercepted Lamar Jackson on the next possession as New Orleans held on to beat Baltimore 24-17 at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens had been favoured by 8.5 points.

Baltimore now travels to Rio de Janeiro to face Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

Mariota named Commanders starter after Daniels’ elbow injury

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams left Sunday’s 9-3 loss to Minnesota with a right hamstring injury that head coach Ben Johnson called a week-to-week issue on Monday.

“It sounds like it’s gonna be a week-to-week deal for him,” Johnson said. “Will likely miss some time.”

Williams is not expected to practise this week and is unlikely to start Monday night against Philadelphia at Soldier Field. Tyson Bagent is in line for the game if Williams cannot go.

Washington has confirmed that Marcus Mariota will start against Seattle on Sunday after Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow in a home defeat to Dallas. It is the second time in two years that Daniels has dislocated the same elbow, and head coach Dan Quinn said there is no timeline on the quarterback’s return.

Mariota came off the bench against the Cowboys and completed 11 of 16 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
