Chicago close in on marquee signing
Robert Lewandowski is on the brink of a move to Major League Soccer, with Chicago Fire reportedly set to land one of the most accomplished strikers of his generation.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Poland international has agreed to join the MLS side after visiting both the club and the city two weeks ago.
“EXCLUSIVE: Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire, HERE WE GO! 🇺🇸” Romano wrote.
He added: “The Polish striker has agreed to join Chicago Fire after visiting the club and city two weeks ago. Lewandowski will sign early next week, ready for new chapter in MLS. Big move. 🔥🇵🇱”

A major statement for MLS
The deal has not yet been formally announced by Chicago Fire, but if completed it would be a significant statement for both the club and the league.
Lewandowski, 37, has spent much of his career at the highest level of European football, building his reputation as one of the most reliable goalscorers of the modern era. His arrival would give Chicago a global name, a proven finisher and a player capable of drawing far greater attention to the club.
For MLS, the move would continue a wider trend of established European stars choosing the United States for the next stage of their careers. For Chicago Fire, it would be one of the most ambitious signings in the club’s history.
A new challenge in Chicago
Lewandowski’s decision appears to have been influenced by his recent trip to Chicago, where he visited the club and the city before giving the move the green light.

The final paperwork is now expected to follow, with Romano reporting that the striker will sign early next week.
Should the move be completed as expected, Chicago Fire will not simply be adding another veteran name. They will be bringing in a striker whose career has been defined by consistency, elite movement and goals at the very highest level.
