The highly anticipated exhibition bout between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather has been pushed back from its initial spring 2026 schedule to the fall of the same year. The postponement comes after Tyson suffered a broken hand during his training regimen.

Originally slated for May 30, the rescheduled event will now grant Tyson additional time to recover from the injury. The news was confirmed by CSI Sports™/FIGHT SPORTS®, the global multimedia business holding exclusive deals for the event with both Tyson and Mayweather.

In a press release, CSI Sports stated, “Global superstars Mike Tyson and undefeated Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather (50-0), who signed to get in the ring in an exhibition this Spring, will have a short moment to wait while Tyson fully recovers from a broken hand he injured during training. Tyson, who was seen sporting a cast while he continues to work through a smooth recovery, is looking forward to the fight that will be rescheduled to a date in the Fall of 2026.” The release added that the exact date, venue, and broadcast plans would be announced shortly.

Tyson’s injury and recovery

Tyson has reportedly been seen wearing a cast, indicating the severity of the injury. This contrasts somewhat with a comment he made to Ariel Helwani in March, where he downplayed a previous issue. “It’s just a little sprain. I’ve got to go hard. It’s the only way I know how to go,” Tyson had said, underscoring his intense approach to training.

The postponement marks another twist in the road for an exhibition that was announced in September 2025 but has faced constant changes to its dates, venues, and broadcasters, according to reports.

Mayweather’s busy schedule faces new uncertainty

For Mike Tyson, his last professional outing was in November 2024, an exhibition against Jake Paul, which Paul won by unanimous decision. Mayweather, meanwhile, has maintained a more active exhibition schedule.

  • Mayweather’s last exhibition was in June 2024 against John Gotti III.
  • He is currently scheduled to fight Mike Zambidis on June 27 in Greece.
  • A mega-rematch with Manny Pacquiao is also on the books for September 26 in Las Vegas.

The delay of the Tyson fight now casts a shadow of doubt over the feasibility of Mayweather’s highly anticipated rematch with Pacquiao, potentially forcing further adjustments to the boxing legend’s packed calendar. CSI Sports™/FIGHT SPORTS®, which controls global rights to major boxing events and networks, reaches over 190 countries with its FIGHT SPORTS® network, ensuring a wide audience for whenever the Tyson-Mayweather showdown eventually takes place.
