Six places at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin are already locked in. The other two will be settled in Paris this week, and on Thursday one of the four contenders made the first move: Tommy Paul beat Quentin Halys 7-6(3), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals.

The night session decides the rest. If Arthur Fils beats Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe is through to Turin and Rafael Jodar keeps the inside line on the eighth spot, but only as long as Paul does not reach the final later in the week. If Fritz wins, nothing is settled on Thursday.

The six already through

Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli and Fils have all qualified for Turin. Cobolli clinched his spot on Tuesday when Jodar lost to Casper Ruud in Paris.

The math for the last two places

Going into Thursday evening, the Race to Turin reads: Tiafoe 3,390 points, Jodar 3,234, Fritz 2,950, Paul 2,925 after his win over Halys. Tiafoe, knocked out of Paris earlier in the week, cannot add to his total.

Fritz needs to reach the semifinals to pass Jodar, and the final to pass Tiafoe. Paul, one round further than Fritz, needs the final to catch Jodar and the title to catch Tiafoe. Jodar qualifies only if Fritz misses the semifinals and Paul misses the final.

The Spanish outsider in the picture

Jodar is 20 and from Madrid. His breakthrough 2026 season has included his first ATP Tour title at the Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech in April and a run to the Shanghai Masters final last month, where he was beaten 1-6, 7-6(5), 6-4 by his compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He was the ninth seed in Paris and No. 9 in the Race going into the tournament, before his second-round loss to Ruud left him open to being overtaken.

A Turin field without Sinner or Djokovic

Novak Djokovic will not be in Turin. The Serb’s season ended with a second-round loss to Rinky Hijikata in Paris, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, which also confirmed he could no longer reach the top eight in the Race.

Jannik Sinner is also out. The world No. 1 ended his 2026 season in early October to treat a knee inflammation and will not play in Turin.
