Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be without star defender Achraf Hakimi for their pivotal UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich, according to beIN Sports.
The French club confirmed on Wednesday that Hakimi has been sidelined due to a thigh injury, a significant blow as PSG prepares to travel to Germany holding a narrow 5-4 aggregate lead.
Hakimi’s injury was sustained during Tuesday’s first leg, where he visibly struggled through the closing minutes. With PSG having already exhausted all their substitutions, the Morocco international was forced to remain on the pitch despite his discomfort.
Following medical assessment, PSG confirmed the injury to his right thigh, stating that the full-back would be out of action for an unspecified period.

“Hakimi will be out for out of action for the next few weeks,” PSG stated, acknowledging the severity of the issue that will keep him from the crucial May 6 return leg in Munich.
A significant blow for Luis Enrique’s side
The absence of Hakimi creates a considerable tactical challenge for manager Luis Enrique. Known for his blistering pace, defensive solidity, and attacking contributions from the right flank, Hakimi is a vital component of PSG’s strategy. His ability to push forward and track back has been instrumental in their Champions League campaign.
A likely candidate to fill the void at right-back is 20-year-old midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery. While highly talented, stepping into such a high-stakes European encounter in an unfamiliar defensive role would represent a stern test for the youngster.
Adding to PSG’s injury woes, second-choice goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier will also miss the trip to Germany.

Wider concerns for club and country
Hakimi’s importance extends beyond his immediate club duties. His consistent performances have seen him recognized among the world’s elite, finishing sixth in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting.
This recent injury now raises questions not only about his availability for the remainder of PSG’s season but also for Morocco’s upcoming World Cup fixtures.
As PSG aims to defend its slender advantage and secure a spot in the Champions League final, the absence of a player of Hakimi’s calibre will undoubtedly weigh heavily on Luis Enrique’s preparations.
The tie against Bayern Munich remains finely poised, and PSG will need to adapt quickly to overcome this significant setback.
