AC Milan have agreed terms in principle with Christian Pulisic on a new contract that would keep the United States winger at San Siro until 2031, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio first published on Monday evening.

Pulisic’s current deal was set to run until June 2027, and Milan had the option to trigger a unilateral one-year extension. Per Gazzetta dello Sport, the club chose to skip that option and push for a longer commitment instead, tying the 28-year-old down for an additional four years.

The reported package is worth around €5m per season plus performance bonuses, a bump that would place Pulisic among Milan’s top earners.

Form has turned under Amorim

The reported breakthrough comes with Pulisic back among the goals. On 25 October he opened the scoring after six minutes against Udinese at Stadio Friuli and was named man of the match, his second goal in as many Serie A outings after also breaking the deadlock in the 14th minute at Lecce in Milan’s last match before the October international break, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Head coach Ruben Amorim, appointed by Milan in June 2026 on a deal running to 2028, has deployed Pulisic in a more advanced role closer to the opposing goal, with the Gazzetta report noting he covered more than 12 kilometres against Udinese.

Cardinale pushed personally for the renewal

Owner Gerry Cardinale has driven the renewal, per Gazzetta dello Sport. The paper reports that since May the American financier has not entertained offers from MLS for Pulisic and has pushed hard to close the deal, viewing the Hershey-born winger as central to Milan’s present and future, not out of shared nationality, Gazzetta writes, but because of plays like the one at Udinese.

For Pulisic, a signature would make him a long-term, highly paid starter at one of Italy’s historic clubs.

Signatures still outstanding

The contract has not been formally signed. Milan expect to complete the paperwork within days, according to the reporting from Sky Sport and Gazzetta, and the club had previously stated an internal goal of concluding the renewal before Christmas.
