Barcelona have not lost a game this season going into the trip to Paris, with a club-record unbeaten run that broke a century-old mark after the opening-day thrashing of Feyenoord.
That is the record traveling to the French capital. On 20 October it meets a team wearing two European crowns in a row: PSG lifted the Champions League in 2025 against Inter and again in 2026 against Arsenal, and the club extended Luis Enrique’s contract to 2030 in the aftermath.
The matchday 3 fixture kicks off at 9pm local time at Parc des Princes.
A press that lives on the halfway line
Hansi Flick arrived in Catalonia with a reputation for a vertical, aggressive 4-2-3-1 and a defence that pushes up to the halfway line. Barcelona’s recoveries in advanced positions have roughly doubled under him, averaging six per game.

Flick himself has made clear that the high line only works because of what sits in front of it: the press.
PSG’s own version of the same idea
Luis Enrique has rebuilt Paris in a shape that looks, from some angles, like a mirror of Flick’s: aggressive possession, counter-pressing, quick vertical movement when the ball turns. The Galactico-era PSG is gone, replaced by a side built around a collective playing style and young talent.
PSG invite the press because the transition it opens is the phase they are best at.
Yamal and the number Flick keeps repeating
Lamine Yamal plays on the right of Flick’s front three. Flick’s view of the 19-year-old, from his pre-Galatasaray press conference in Istanbul, has not softened.

“He will be the best player in the world, if he isn’t already. With his attitude, his mentality, his will to improve every day … That is the right mentality,” he told reporters.
In the same fixture 12 months ago, at Barcelona’s Montjuïc home, PSG won 2-1, with Gonçalo Ramos settling it in the 90th minute.
Luis Enrique at home against his old club
Luis Enrique spent most of his playing career at Barcelona and won the 2014-15 treble as their head coach. On his return to Montjuïc a year ago he called it “my home”. This time Barcelona come to his.
Paris have their own medical questions. Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes were given extended rest after international duty and are only now returning to training. Désiré Doué is still working through rehabilitation. The club described the Dembélé decision in direct terms, with the staff saying he needs to recover and arrive fresh before major matches.
